Topeka Grocer 35 Years.
James J. Lannan 65, Drops Dead at Camp Funston.
James J. Lannan 65, formerly a prominent grocery man of Topeka, died Friday while umpiring a ball game at Camp Funston, according to word received here yesterday. He was stricken with an attack of heart disease and fall dead.
Mr. Lannan was in the grocery business at fourth and Monroe streets thirty-five years. When he came here thirty-seven years ago, he became a member of the firm of Fitzgeraid & Lannan. When the firm was dissolved, about twelve years ago, he went into partnership with his brother C. E. Lannan.
After selling out his interest in the grocery store three years ago, Mr. Lannan enlisted as a secretary of the Knights of Columbus. He had charged of the recreation work at Camp Funston until the soldiers were taken from the camp. He has been employed in the quartermaster corps at Fort Riley ever since.
Mr. Lannan was prominent in Knights of Colunbus and A. O. U. W. circles in Topeka. He was financial secretary of A. O. U. W. Lodge No. 260 at the time of his death.
Mr. Lannan is survived by his widow: three daughters.

The body arrived in Topeka yesterday. The funeral will be held at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning from the Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
