On the county map Straight Creek can be found in Township 6-south and Range 16-east.  On the Township map Straight can be found in section 18.
 
Straight Creek Post Office.
Straight Creek post office open January 1, 1888 and ran to April 15, 1908, closed and reopened April 1, 1909 and ran to December 15, 1910, closed and reopened March 11, 1911 and ran to January 15, 1929.  First postmaster was Shirrell Hill.
 
There was only one patron listed who used Straight Creek as their P. O. address as of 1903.
 
J. R. Dague, Farmer and Stock Raiser also Postmaster, Justice of the peace and Insurance Agent.
 
Straight Creek Kansas, 1912.

Straight Creek, a hamlet of Jackson county, is located in Straight Creek township on the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific R. R., 6 miles northeast of Holton, the county seat, from which place it receives mail. Prior to 1869 the lands of the township belonged to the Kickapoo Indian reservation. J. H. Thompson claimed land in 1854 and settled in 1855. John Hibbard came in 1856. Other early settlers were S. J. Rose, WilHam Chambers, W. L. Estes, T. Burns, James Hastings and others. G. W. Weister built the first mill.
