I usually don't show the county map but this time I felt I must. On the county map Hooker is indicated but on the township map it is not for what ever reason. I give you both maps so you can compare the two.

Saint John & Hooker Post Office.
Saint John post office open March 14, 1879 and ran to April 30, 1880, name changed to Hooker, first postmaster was Jacob J. Keefer. Hooker post office open April 30, 1880 and ran to October 31, 1908, James E. Hendershott was first postmaster. No record could be found as to way the name change.

There is only one person listed for Hooker.
A. Handwerk, Farmer and Stock Raiser, came to county 1885.
Hooker Kansas, 1912.
Hooker, a little settlement of Decatur county, is located on Sappa creek, 8 miles southwest of Oberlin, the county seat and nearest railroad station, whence mail is delivered by rural route.
