Birth: Jul. 29, 1857, Parke County, Indiana.
Death: Mar. 22, 1936, Mound Valley, Labette County, Kansas.

Obituary The Edna Sun, Thursday, March 26, 1936: 

W. P. Wimmer, one of the pioneer citizens of Mound Valley, was injured March 16th when he was run over by his motor car which he had cranked while the machine was in gear. The accident occurred at the home of Mrs. Emily Gaty. Mr. Wimmer passed away Saturday noon and funeral services were held Monday in the Mound Valley Methodist church, the Rev. F. L. Page officaiting. Burial was in Mound Valley cemetery.

Mr. Wimmer was born in Parke county, Indiana, July 29, 1857, hence his exact age at death was 78 years, 7 months and 24 days.

He was married to Margaret A. Thompson November 23, 1878, and soon thereafter he and his bride came to Labette county and resided near Edna for fifteen years, removing to Mound Valley in 1894, where he has since resided. Mrs. Wimmer died October 19, 128. A son, Claude, passed away June 5, 1907, at the age of 27 years.

On New Yea's eve, 1929, Mr. Wimmer and Julia Schafernolte were married, and she survives him. He is also survived by four brothers and one sister: I.L. Wimmer of Greencastle, Ind., J.Q. Wimmer of Edna, F.S. Wimmer of Edna, H.C. Wimmer of Tulsa and Mrs. Mary C. Reid of Indianapolis, Ind. One granddaughter, Mrs. Lewis Sawyer of Cherryvale and a number of friends.

Burial: Mound Valley Cemetery, Mound Valley, Labette County, Kansas.
