On the county map Lakeland can be found in Township 34 & 35-south and Range 26-west.  On the township map Lakeland can be found in section 18.
 
Lakeland Post Office.
 
Lakeland post office open September 17, 1885 and ran to February 29, 1924.  First postmaster was R. M. Painter.

The postoffice of Lakeland was in the Painter family through several administrations, and is now on the Hulburt ranch.

Lakeland, a money order postoffice of Meade county, is located in Sand Creek township on the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe R. R. 20 miles southeast of Meade, the county seat. The population in 1910 was 12.
