On the county map Deerhead can be found in Township 32-south and Range 15-west.  On the Township map Deerhead can be found in section 25.
 
Deer Head Post Office.
 
Deerhead post office open August 10, 1885 and ran to September 29, 1894, closed and reopened April 13, 1895 and ran to June 30, 1923.  William Palmer was first postmaster.
 
The Patron's Directory has the following listed for Deerhead township, who used Deerhead as their P. O. address as of 1905.
 
S. Y. Carr, Farmer and Stock Raiser, came to county 1884.
J. W. De Geer, Farmer and Stock Raiser, came to county 1886.
C. W. Hildebrand, Farmer and Stock Raiser, came to county 1878.
John McGrath, Farmer and Stock Raiser, came to county 1878.
 
Deerhead Kansas, 1912
 
Deerhead, a village of Barber county, is located in Deerhead township, about 20 miles west of Medicine Lodge, the county seat, in the Indian creek valley. Lake City, 10 miles north on the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe R. R., is the nearest railroad station. The village has a money order postoffice, is the trading center for a large agricultural district, and is the headquarters of the "Ranchmen's Telephone company."
