Vassar Post Office History.
La Mont's Hill or Lamont Hill post office open February 2, 1871, first post master was Warren Morris, then in 1873 the post office was at Farmersville, frist postmaster was Oscar Fairbanks, then in 1887 the post ofice was at Vassar, first post master was William S. Edmonson
Town Name Changes.
La Mont's Hill or Lamont Hill started around 1871, then in 1873, the town eather moved or changed it's name to Farmersvill, the records doesn't say. Then in 1887 the name was changed to Vassar. In 1878 La Mont's Hill or Lamont Hill sat in the North-East quarter section of section 23. In 1887, La Mont's Hill or Lamont Hill moved three quarters of a mile west and was in the North-East quarter section of section 22, and the name changed to Vassar. Nothing was said about Farmersville Nothing in the records says if La Mont's Hill or Lamont Hill changed it's name to Farmersville first. The Post office Department states that La Mont's Hill or Lamont Hill open it's post office Febrary 2, 1871 and ran to January 31, 1887, name changed to Vassar who's post office open January 31, 1887 and ran to ?.

Vassar, a small town in the central part of Osage county, is located in Junction township on the Missouri Pacific R. R., 7 miles northeast of Lyndon, the county seat. It has telegraph and express offices and a money order postoffice with one rural route. The population in 1910 was 75.
